族群矛盾的論述，對頭髮眼睛皮膚語言和血統都不同的種族，比較容易煽動情緒，非我族類，其心必異，是人類共同劣質價值。

同文同種，但來源地不同族群，有其獨門挑動矛盾的方法，以台獨過去幾十年的論述最為典型：台灣四百年史，與中國隔絕，經濟政治文化制度都與對岸不同，更發展出與中國完全不同的民族。為了與中國血脈中華文化徹底割裂，除了以台灣話為國語，堅決不說中國北京話外，更曾主張放棄中國文字，改用拼音台語，並認真著手進行，以顯台灣獨立決心，結果當然不了了之。

「台灣人不是中國人，中國豬滾回中國去」，口號曾經叫得震天價響。整個政治論述的中心思想是：國民黨是外來政權，他們的統治是非法的，號召台灣人起來推翻國民黨，獨立建國。

台獨論述，說起來頭頭是道，但經不起邏輯推敲，再問誰才算是台灣人？台灣人的定義是甚麼？他們會詞窮答不上來，不少台灣人的祖先都來自中國大陸，而且原籍福建，到台灣有早有遲，早的可追溯至明朝鄭成功年代，遲的可能是逃避戰禍，近世才由唐山過台灣的大陸人。究竟在台灣多少代才算台灣人？對台獨論述至關重要。

為了擴闊團結面，於是又有這樣的定義：1945年二戰後日本將台灣歸還中華民國，之前在台灣的，是台灣人。之後來接收台灣的，特別是49年後跟隨蔣介石來台的外省人，是中國人。台灣人愛台灣，外省人都是出賣台灣利益的賣台集團。

這樣的定義，也有說不通的時候，早年到台灣的外省人，算不算台灣人？又例如台灣人在大陸出生，後到台灣定居，那算是外省人還是半個台灣人？除了原住民是真正台灣人無可爭議之外，硬將同文化同種族的人分類，一定會出現無法解決的漏洞與分歧。

這種硬分台灣人、中國人、愛台、賣台的論述，目的不是為了台獨，而是為了迫使國民黨結束獨裁統治，開放專制政權。果不其然，實行總統直選政黨輪替後，所謂台獨主張，幾乎馬上煙消雲散。

今天香港鬧哄哄的本土論述，有點重覆台灣當年的軌跡，香港人的定義是甚麼？怎樣才算本土？值得更仔細討論和研究。

Dear HK-educated Chinese chauvinist pseudo-democrat吳志森:

Your arguments against the Taiwan Independence Movement (台獨) are out-of-date cliche. Yes, it is true that around 75% of the Taiwanese today have their ancestors traced back mostly to Fukienese and 10% to Hakka Cantonese who migrated to Taiwan around 400 years ago.

However, you are reluctant to tell another truth that around 65% of the Americans today have their ancestors traced back mostly to British and 15% to the other Europeans who migrated to North America 300 years.

Taiwan differs from China in terms of language and political system to a much greater extent than the USA differs from the UK and mainland Europe. If the USA could gain independence from the UK 240 years ago, why can't Taiwanese nowadays?

The answer is short and simple -- might makes right (有強權無公理). The reason does not lie in political theories or morality, but lies in how strong your colonial master’s military is.

The UK was not much stronger than the American colony 240 years ago. But, China today is much stronger than Taiwan per se. China could not annex Taiwan by force, because, since 1950, Taiwan has been put under the protection of a power stronger than China --- the USA.
